Evolve Conference

I wanted to post my experience at the Evolve conference in Ft. Lauderdale. For those who don't know what that is or heard about it's a conference that was designed for students and artists that's interested in breaking into the industry. It's mostly a computer animation industry but there was conferences that featured conceptual art, texturing for 3d and much more.

I had the opportunity to meet Kekai Kotaki, a lead concept artist on Guild War 2. I had the chance for him to look over and critique my work. He gave me strict and positive criticism. Kekai told me to stick with my strongest style and forget about being versatile if I want to become a great concept artist. I also attended his conference where he talked about his paintings and his techniques.

I attend Jason Ryan's conference where he talked about animation. He was animating a voice clip that is also featured on his website. He instructed and walked us through his process on how he works from DigiCell Flipbook to taking it into Maya. He is an incredible animator in both 2d and 3d.

I also had the chance to attend Fausto de Martini's conference. He walked through his 3d still art from the start of the model to finish. Then, walked us through his techniques on his texturing skills. He is an awesome modeler and I am very amazed in the detail and work he puts into every one of his creations.

Sadly, I wasn't able to attend all conferences as they overlapped one other so I attended what I will be focusing on my career benefits. I am glad I was able to attend such an event and hope to attend more like this one.

This is both the front and back of the cards. I chose to do two different colors but the same visual theme with different fairies. I really like the purple one more than the pink.

I've added the solid colors after inking and cleaning it up. I have yet to add the final touches which is the shadows and highlights.

In photoshop, I like to change the line art into a light blue color so that I can ink over it in black.
